Cultural differences can be easily misunderstood and misinterpreted, which can lead to frustration, communication barriers, and poor customer service. About the Guest Speaker

Barbara M. Hunter, APR, is the president/CEO of Hunter Communications LLC, based in Alexandria, Va., and is the former communications officer for Fairfax County Schools and Alexandria City Schools in Northern Virginia. She served as the Mideast Region Vice President for the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), as well as past president of NSPRA's Chesapeake Chapter. 

Barbara co-authored NSPRA’s Rubrics of Practice and Suggested Measures, which serves as the standard for evaluating school communication programs. She has earned dozens of awards and national recognition, including the highest—the Silver Anvil Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America for a community engagement campaign on changing school start times.
